MySQL is the centerpiece of the LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP/Python/Perl) stack. Without MySQL, we would all be writing BerkeleyDB or PostgresSQL based Web apps; we are glad that MySQL is now widely used and we hope it will be soon respected (thanks to Sun Microsystems) in the enterprise and government arena. We know how slow and thick the IT folks are in such organizations; just remember how long it took them to realize the power of Linux — a decade! Thankfully, small businesses, startups and entrepreneurs love MySQL, which is where we play; That’s enough MySQL advocacy for now.

This MySQL focused blog is made available for our staff engineers to post interesting MySQL hacks, tricks and tips that they find useful on a daily basis in implementing both in-house products and customer projects. By sharing these MySQL hacks, tips and tricks with you, we hope to learn better ones from you and perhaps even help you a little in the process.

Since this is a free publication, please read with a grain of salt as articles are a bit rough around the edges. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Now a short notice that our lawyers want us to share with you. :)
